This system is designed to deliver critical and potentially life-saving emergency alerts to Canadians. The events this year run across Canada from May 7 through May 13. #PrepareYourSelfie!" The objective of the annual event is to inform community residents about the preparation and needs in case of an emergency. "The new alerting system will provide information on what ac- tion members of the public would need to take to keep themselves and other affected persons safe during an emer- gency," said John deHooge, Chief of Fire Services at the Town. Ontarians are encouraged to take the time to assemble a 72-hour Emergency Preparedness Kit and share it via so- cial media and talk through what your family would do during an emergency. Take the challenge. Promote it as much as you can. Challenge your family, friends and colleagues. We encourage you to discuss Emer- gency Preparedness with your family and friends. Plan, Prepare, Be Aware. #EPweek2018 #AlertReady #Prepareyourselfie On Monday, May 7, the Halton Regional Police Service responded to a report of a serious injury collision, involving two motor vehicles near the intersection of Regional Road 25 and 15 Side Road, in the Town of Halton Hills. At approximately 4:40 p.m., a 38-year-old male resident of Hamilton was operating a 2015 Hino cube van southbound on Region- al Road 25, south of 15 side road when it came into con- tact with a 2014 Kia Forte operated by a 25-year-old female resident of Toronto. Early medical assess- ments deemed the female to possibly be suffering from life-altering injur- ies. The Halton Regional Police Collision Recon- struction Unit responded to assist in the investiga- tion. Further assessments were conducted and her medical status was even- tually updated to having suffered from only minor injuries. The male driver of the cube van also suf- fered minor injuries. The scene was held for ap- proximately seven hours for the at-scene collision investigation and subse- quent scene clean-up. Over 20 local residents and professional actors made up the cast that portrayed the Spirits of many colourful characters from the history of the Village. Robin Aggus (right) piped in Eden Mills resident Richard Lay, who portrayed the animated and grandiose Spirit of Adam Argo, the Village's first Post Master. As Argo may have implied, he was the driving force behind the growth of this Village of some 250 people in the early 1850s. - Les Schmidt photos
