Rick Bonnette filed on Tuesday to retain his seat as Mayor for the Town of Halton Hills. "I would like to thank all of those who took the time these past few months who have telephoned, emailed or spoke to me personally encouraging me to run again. It has been a privilege to serve the people of Halton Hills as Mayor of Halton Hills. During my time as Mayor, we have faced many chal- lenges together such as Hospital crisis, Buy American Policies af- fecting local industry, proposed Provincia l Highways , p lant closures, possible Youth Cen- tre closures, Provincial Growth Plans to name a few. Council has resolved most of these issues with positive outcomes. I will continue to use my leadership skill to be an advocate for this great commun- ity. We must ensure that we have a great quality of life that is second to none. My proven track record of being experienced, responsive and decisive will be an asset in the next four years for continued success and to face future chal- lenges." If elected Rick Bonnette, will continue to focus on growing the industrial/commercial tax base, advocate Gellert Phase 11 from planning to construction with Senior needs, support opportun- ities for Affordable Housing and continue being a leader in En- vironmental Sustainability and Climate Change. He will also continue to press upper levels of government to find the solution of the Acton and Norval bypasses. "There are many more issues to be discussed in the upcoming months like Vision Georgetown, the Hidden Quarry application, and other planning issues."
