The total cost of the project is $2,800,000 with $537,000 being funded through grants and fund- raising. The "Field of Dreams" joint project partnership between Halton Hills Minor Baseball Associa- tion, Georgetown Slopitch League and the Town of Halton Hills are commen- cing capital construction. The community partner- ship provides direct benefit to the local sports groups who provide many oppor- tunities for recreation to all ages and will meet the needs of the community. The collaborative group will be selling the naming rights for each diamond or the entire complex. "This brings our 34-year total donations to the Acton branch of the Canadian Cancer Soci- ety to over $1.2 millon," said Allan Hall, one of the tournament organizers. Paul Murr was a na- tive Acton son, who in his younger years had been a track athlete specializing in middle distances. He was a well-known busi- ness man and avid golfer. He died in 1988 from can- cer but not before learning that the tournament was to be named in his honour. The tournament has been held at the challenging Blue Springs course since it opened in 1991.
