I noticed quite a few shop- ping bags on the bus. We also stopped at Crossroads for lunch. Aline was our driver and, as usual, did an excellent job of getting us there and home safely. I am changing the name of "Gals on the Go" to "Gals and Guys on the Go" as I heard that some men thought they were excluded. We will take everyone. This started when I first joined the Centre 16 years ago, and the men were having inter- esting trips and wouldn't let me go. They said, "Start your own group", and we did. It wasn't long before the men joined us. E v e r y o n e e n j o y e d the dinner and dance on Monday evening. As usual Michael Kelly Cavan was a great hit whether you enjoy dan- cing or just listening to the music. We welcomed our usual friends from Georgetown plus a group from Milton. We hope to see them again. Gisela Lamb was happy to win the 50/50, and Liz Smith, Delbert Lipstead, Mau- rice McDouall, Bruce Shannon, John McLean and Grace Graham won door prizes. We will be enjoying Swiss Chalet chicken at the next social dinner on June 11 when How- ard Coultrup will be presenting the Owen Coultrup Memorial Award for Receptionist of the Year. This year's recipi- ent is Wilda Tressel. After Wilda moved to Guelph, she still volunteered at the Centre organizing the trips to Rama and Niagara while managing the busy reception desk on alter- nate Friday mornings. We do miss her and the little treats that appeared on the desk when she was work- ing. The OSGA carpet bowl- ing tournament was held at the Centre last week and two teams from Oak- ville were first and second. Acton members Elly and Siena were third, and Mary and Bruce fourth. Everyone enjoyed the day and the camaraderie. The only mooner on Thursday, May 17 was Doug Kingshott There was no winner this week in the weekly 50/50 draw. Next week the amount to be won should be around $180. The Friday lunch on June 1 will be soup and sandwiches followed by Bingo at 1:15 p.m. Computer workshops for this session are now fin- ished. We have a group of members who are now very adept with using their com- puters and other electronic devices. Congratulations. You are reminded to put your name and phone num- ber on a ballot during the month of your birthday to be entered into a draw for a Manicure or Pedicure. Now that sandal season has finally arrived, we could all probably use a pedicure. The ballots are located be- tween the main doors. It was great to see some of our new 2018 members join us for tea and cake. This was an opportun- ity for them to learn more about the operation of our Centre. Welcome to all of you, and I hope you will get involved in the many activ- ities we promote. Many of you are coming in with aches and pains in new parts of your body. The groans are a sure sign you are taking advan- tage of this warm sunny weather to get your yards and gardens in shape. How about sharing some pic- tures of the results of your work? Our new and improved library is quite a busy place and invites you to pick up a book or two to have on hand to read in your leisure time when the gardening is all done. There is a book for everybody. Sometimes our reception desk is a very busy place. Please be patient. The ladies try to do their best to address your concerns. We realize the parking around the Centre can be a problem on most oc- casions. Something that might help is for everyone to park carefully between the yellow lines and to leave enough room for the next person. Check for upcoming events on the white board beside the reception desk. Don't leave it too late to sign up for that special pro- gram you wanted to see. Drop by the travel desk to see what's new or just to have a chat with me. I always like to talk.
