A l o t h a s changed since the organ- ization formed in 1968, but the league has still managed to fit in with the Acton community, attracting approximate- ly 900 youth, adults and community members to support their operations every year. Acton Soccer Club H o u s e L e a g u e i s a community-based rec- reational league open to all players of any skill level and ability. Their House League program is des igned to offer fun and excitement to children in a team for- mat while supporting a healthy and active life- style for all players. The program is aligned with guidelines put forth by the Ontario Soccer Asso- ciation, ensuring players get enough touches on the ball and are able to truly enjoy the game. This year, the club's kick-off day was May 26 with their younger play- ers having their event at McKenzie-Smith Ben- nett Public School while their over age 12 play- ers had their event at the Trafalgar Sports Park in Georgetown. Shahan Ar tun , the current Pres ident of the Acton Soccer Club, joined the Acton Soc- cer Club in 2010 as a volunteer to coach his son's team. "I had some suggestions for the club, which lead me to become a volunteer board member, Director of House League and a C o n v e n o r. I h e l p e d organize and run the Coaching Clinic, Soc- cer Kick-Off Fun Day and End of Year Champ Day. "Now I'm President of the Acton Soccer Club. I'm happy to volunteer in the Acton community and to help provide soc- cer to youth and adults in Acton . We rea l ly can't have soccer in Ac- ton without the support of our Volunteer Parent Coaches and Student Vo l u n t e e r C o a c h e s . They give up their free time to make soccer fun for the players, rain or shine."
