I am always amazed how much laughter and fun you can have stealing other peo- ple's gifts. They also en- joyed the camaraderie and the wonderful festive refreshments. The Centre will be closed from Dec. 25-26 for the Christmas holidays. The Centre is open on Dec. 27, 28, 29 and the usual drop in programs will be offered except for the paper tole class and afternoon social danc- ing. The Monday and Fri- day LHIN exercise clas- ses will take a break over the holidays and will re- sume on Jan. 5 and Jan. 8. Over 100 people en- joyed the Christmas So- cial Dinner at the Acton Legion on Dec. 14. The dinner was delicious and everyone enjoyed danc- ing to Norm Mason's mu- sic. Lynda Fischer intro- duced Mayor Rick Bon- nette, Halton Hills Couns. Ted Brown, Jon Hurst, commissioner of recreation and parks Warren Harris, and man- ager of recreation servic- es Samantha Howard and of course our own Hillsview co-ordinator Wendy Krever. Mayor Rick thanked all the staff and volunteers for the hours they commit to the Centre. Santa Claus even took time out of his busy schedule to wish every- one a Happy Christmas. There were lots of prizes and Robert Crawford won the 50/50 just in time for Christmas. Kudos and thanks to Lynda and her group for a job well done! The next Lunch and Learn is on Jan. 2. The lunch is individual chicken pot pie, salad and dessert and the topic is Caregiver support and education. The cut-off date is Friday, Dec. 22 at 3 p.m. The Horticultural program on Jan. 2 is full but the class is repeated on Jan. 16. You will learn to create three miniature flower arrangements to take home. Each class is limited to 12 partici- pants. Sign up and pay if you are interested. This Friday (Dec. 22) 50 people will be enjoy- ing the Christmas turkey lunch prepared and served by Helen Croghan and her crew. The next Friday lunch on Dec. 29 will be soup and sandwiches plus des- sert, tea and coffee fol- lowed by bingo. Don't forget that your membership expires on Dec. 31. There will be a two week grace period and then your name will be removed from the 50/50 draw drum. There was no winner for the weekly 50/50 this week so next Friday the amount to be won should be around $300.
