On Sunday, July 14, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. experience hands- on learning about Xeriscape and "Butterfl y" Gardens. Come when you can, for as long as you can. Attain insights into xeriscape gardening as volunteers rework the Willow Park entrance with xeriscape garden features.Xeri- scape gardens are created by pair- ing drought tolerant plants with other species needing the same amount of sun and moisture, and adding a variety of stone elements to hold in moisture and keep soil warm. Other projects may include tree planting, bridge painting and pathways resurfacing. Other park events include: July 21,1-4 p.m. where volunteers are needed to help during the Big Daddy Festival Raindate event including the Paddle-to-the-Sea boat race. And on July 30-31 you can get trained and experienced in tree inventory projects alongside of the Ministry of Natural Resources Stewardship Rangers.
