THE MEMORIAL ARENA 42 Mill Street, Georgetown, Ontario, L7G 2H7 ENTERTAINMENT Please don't drink and drive Georgetown artist Barbara Ariss-Stroh-Wasser presents a solo art exhibit, Individualism within Globalism, at the Williams Mill Visual Arts Centre Gallery on Main St. in Glen Williams. The exhibit runs from Wednes- day, July 24 to Sunday, Aug. 11. The public is invited to the re- ception on Saturday, July 27, 1-4 p.m. (Despite ongoing Main St. construction, the Gallery is open to the public.) Ariss-Stroh-Wasser explores the ideas of Individualism within Globalism on canvas. Globalism is supported by the spread of so- cial media in the hope of creating new advanced ideas by "the Glob- al Brain". In her opinion, the ad- vancement will only take place if the brain power of strong individ- uals connect; otherwise globalism will lead to a mass of sameness. Specifi cally for this exhibit, she is inspired by images of the brains' neural network and frac- tal patterns in nature. In general, as a conceptual visual artist she transforms ideas into images. Her paintings capture the dynamic fl ow of energies surrounding us. She searches for new ways of vi- sual expression, achieving this by blending unconventional materi- als in unusual combinations. As a special feature, the early part of the reception will offer a vocal classical music performance by singer Sandi Melro of George- town, and a piano recital by her daughter Serena. This exhibit will also introduce the fashion launch of clothes de- signed and produced under the label Ariss Melro Fashion Design, by Ariss-Stroh-Wasser and Fer- nanda Melro. Each clothing piece has special features to enhance the individuality of the wearer. Ariss-Stroh-Wasser currently exhibits at the Meadowvale The- atre in Mississauga, and the Mil- ton Town Hall, soon to be followed by solo shows in Toronto and the Holcim Gallery in the Milton.
