Don't miss out on singing, acting, dancing and theatre games. This is an amazing way for kids to explore their cre- ative side, mingle with other energetic and theatrical kids in town, and make great friend- ships. The kids will get to learn about being on stage, being in a rehearsal, improvisation, and practise public speaking skills. Camp leaders are Joanna Fraser and Victoria Fraser. Jo- anna recently graduated from Sheridan College with a diplo- ma in Musical Theatre. Joanna led the camps last summer and co-directed the youth show, You're a Good Man Charlie Brown. As a lover of all things theatrical, Joanna wants to help young members to dis- cover the joys of being in com- munity theatre. Victoria is very excited to be a part of Globe's summer camps again this year. Victoria is studying English and theatre at Western and has appeared in many shows there. A dancer since she could walk, Victoria was a part of the UWO dance pack for two years and loves to choreograph the young camp- ers. The two-week camp is held at The Old Armoury, 1A Park Ave, Georgetown Fairgrounds, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (extended hours 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. avail- able). Contact jfraser@fraser- direct.ca for more details. Georgetown Globe Musi- cal Productions is a non-profi t community theatre company, started in 1964. The group saved, and has been restoring, The Old Armoury for use as a rehearsal hall. Globe Camp leader Victoria Fraser (left) relaxes with July campers (from left) Brynn Swenarchuk, Senja Anderson, Cameron Playter, Jake Zanth, Thomas Morely, and Madelyn Gander before the camp show, Disney Gone Wild. Written by camp leaders Joanna and Victoria Fraser with a funky twist on the classic Disney characters, 25 kids took part in the production. Photo submitted Globe's Music Theatre Camp for kids begins next week Painters and photographers frequently visit Willow Park Ecology Centre (WPEC) to take ad- vantage of this oasis in Norval. This Sunday, August 11 and again on Sunday, August 25, WPEC is inviting all artists and "wan- na-be" artists and their families to come down to enjoy some time together exploring crafts from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Whether you are a clay person or a painter, or just want to have some help in learn- ing, you will have an enjoyable time. Some ma- terials are available for a minimal cost; come get your hands dirty and try something new. There will also be some butterfl ies and other wooden creatures to paint in your own styles for the com- post area fence. Photographers taking photos in the park may submit them to butterfl ies@WPEC.ca for inclu- sion in the contest and on the WPEC website. Depending on public feedback and participa- tion, this could be the start of a much larger ven- ture to bring artisans of all kinds to the park on an annual basis. Musicians playing acoustical instru- ments are welcome on either or both Sundays. Contact Carolyn@willowparkecology.ca with your suggestions and offers to help.
