The purpose of the Study is to identify urban land use designations, a natural heritage system, transportation/ servicing infrastructure, and detailed policies to guide the development of the Study Area, which was designated 'Future Residential/Mixed Use Area' through the Town's Official Plan Amendment 10. The Study is in accordance with Regional Official Plan Amendment 38, which includes the subject lands as part of an expansion to the Georgetown Urban Area. The Study (called 'Vision Georgetown') is being undertaken as an Integrated Planning Project. It will involve a Land Use Planning Study under the Planning Act, a Subwatershed Study, which deals with all aspects of the natural environment, and improvements to infrastructure in accordance with Schedule B of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) Process. As part of the "integrated approach" (as set out in Section A.2.9 of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment), Planning Act and Environmental Assessment Act requirements are combined. Phases 1 and 2 of the Municipal Class EA will be addressed. The Study is expected to result in the preparation of a Secondary Plan that will be adopted as an amendment to the Town of Halton Hills Official Plan. Get Involved! Community engagement is a significant part of the 'Vision Georgetown' Study. You are invited to attend an introductory Community Information Session, which will provide background and general information on the 'Vision Georgetown' Study, which is expected to take 3 years to complete. Date: Monday, September 16, 2013 Start Time: 6:30 PM (Presentation at 6:45 PM) Location: Cultural Centre Gallery, 9 Church Street, Georgetown The Community Information Session will provide an opportunity for local residents, property owners, and other interested individuals to meet the Project Team, discuss the scope and goals of the study, and provide input into the identification of key issues.
