By recycling and composting more, you will have less garbage. You may place three garbage bags/cans or less at the curb every other week. More than three garbage bags/ cans require a "garbage tag," up to a total of six garbage bags/cans maximum (three untagged, three tagged). The maximum weight per garbage bag/can is 23 kg (50 lbs). Garbage tags cost $2 per tag and can only be purchased in sheets of �ve tags ($10 per sheet). These $2 garbage tags do not expire. Garbage tags are available for purchase online or in person. If you require garbage tags, you can begin using the $2 garbage tags on September 9, 2013. Your �rst garbage collection day after Christmas Day (December 25) will NOT require garbage tags; however, the six garbage bag/can limit will apply. Garbage Tag Program Conditions • No refunds on purchased and/or unused garbage tags. • Garbage tags cannot be used to dispose of garbage at the HaltonWaste Management Site or private transfer station. • Garbage tags are not required in apartment buildings or townhouse complexes with common pile garbage collection. • Garbage tags cannot be used in Halton Hills collection areas 1 or 2, as these areas do not receive garbage collection from Halton Region. Tie your garbage bag with a knot or twist tie. 2. Place the garbage tag around the neck of the garbage bag. Ensure the ends of the garbage tag are pressed together. Do NOT use the garbage tag as a twist tie. 3. If using a can, place the garbage tag around the neck of the top garbage bag so it can be seen when the lid is lifted. Do not over�ll garbage cans.
