All money collected will go directly to the local Alzheimer So- ciety branch and support people in this community. Last year Bulk Barn stores across Canada raised over $275,000 and would like to reach over $300,000 this year. Due to its huge success last year, Bulk Barn will again be holding a Dollar Match Day on Sat- urday, Sept. 21. This means that for every $1 of customer donations, $3 will go to the Alzheimer So- ciety up to a maximum donation of $10/person. Photo by Ted Brown SENIORS LIFESTYLES I was quite excited to see a young man wandering around outside the Acton Seniors Centre with a large tape measure. Hope- fully that is a sign that something exciting is going to happen in the not too distant future! This week is our Open House at the Acton Seniors Centre. If you are looking for something worthwhile and fun to do-- now summer is only a memory-- this is your chance to try one of the various programs offered at the Centre. Everything was hopping when I walked in on Monday morning. The dart players were busy throw- ing their darts, and talking about how they spent the summer, and the craft group were busy looking over their supplies and discussing what crafts they would be creat- ing over the next few months. The owner of Tanner's Restaurant An- drea Clark assisted by her sister Alana Hampton made several easy recipes, gave tips and answered questions. We sampled a healthy broccoli salad and delicious little tarts. Everyone enjoyed learning how to make the tasty treats. I would like to purchase tick- ets for the matinee performance of Legends of Harmony at the St Jacobs Schoolhouse Theatre on Thursday, Nov. 28. Until I know how many people would like to go I can't reserve the tickets as I have to order and pay ahead. If you are interested, please add your name to the list and pay as soon as pos- sible. We will be having lunch first at Anna Mae's Bakery & Res- taurant in Millbank first. They offer a large choice of items, and are famous for their chicken din- ners. Then we will drive the short distance to St Jacobs to relax and enjoy the show. The price is for the show and bus. If you were born in either Au- gust or September you should receive an invitation to the Birth- day Tea on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 1:30 p.m. Last week the movie was well attended and 18 people enjoyed watching Promised Land. The next movie will be shown on Tuesday, Oct. 8 and will be Oz, The Great and Powerful. Last Friday, two more leaves were added to our Tree of Hope by Alison Colter's daughters Jessica and Kristina, and on Wednesday, with her friends Mary Pilarczyk added two more in memory of her husband John.
