Despite some big rushing gains from Steffens and a stubborn defence, the Red Devils prevailed 20-9 in the HSSAA's opening week of the regular season. Photo by Eamonn Maher Tough start for gridiron squads Generating offence was a sore spot for the four Georgetown-based high school football teams that began regu- lar-season action last week. Christ the King's senior Jaguars, who have been promoted to the Tier I division this year, were edged 15-9 at home by Oakville's Loyola in their lid- lifter in Georgetown, while the junior Jags came out on the short end of a 52-6 score at Burlington Assumption. GDHS's seniors encountered some turnover problems against O-T last week in a 20-9 loss, while the juniors lost 7-0 to the Red Devils at home. Coming up this week, CtK hosts MM Robinson of Burlington in a double- header Friday with the senior tilt kick- ing off at 2:30 p.m. The Tier II senior and junior Rebels will travel to Oakville to take on Iroquois Ridge today (Thurs- day) beginning at 2:30 p.m.
