H om e and E nergy, Thursday, O ctober 3, 2013 Three Georgetown gardeners cap- tured TERRA Purple Pepper Awards for their gardening efforts at the firm's inaugural awards ceremony held at the TERRA greenhouses in Waterdown. Almost 200 people entered the five categories- Best Edible Garden, Best Edible Garden by a Child or Children, Best Edible Container Garden, Best Edible Balcony Garden, and Best Ed- ible Exotic Garden. The application process was open to all Ontario resi- dents during June and July. The top three gardens were select- ed in each category, based on photos submitted, and then TERRA's group of judges set out to look at the 15 gar- dens. Georgetown winners were Sandra Blakley who placed second in the Best Edible Container Garden category, Naomi Coffey , who was third in the Best Edible Garden by a Child or Chil- dren class, and Karen Mattan who was second in the Best Edible Garde n divi- sion. Local gardeners win TERRA awards Members of Credit Valley Conser- vation Conversation Youth Corps spent time at Willow Park Ecology Centre recently, doing odd jobs, like cleaning up invasive species, and tending to the paths and walkways. Volunteer Aidan Grif- fiths (left) was joined by Youth Corps members Yashasavi Sachar and Amatullah Mamajiala, as they worked on the walkways.
