Ted Brown will return next week Several Halton Regional Police officers from Halton Hills and Milton received life-saving awards and certificates from St. John Ambulance at 12 Division in Milton Tuesday. Here, Sean Livingston, SJA Branch Honours and Award Chair, Milton, Oakville, Halton Hills, (left), presents certificates to Halton Hills officers Const. Matthew Floyd (centre) and Const. Naresh Dabas after the duo helped save a man who had collapsed. Photo by Eric Riehl/Metroland Media Group Halton Hills officers honoured for saving elderly man in 2012 Two Halton Hills police officers were recognized by St. John Ambulance Tues- day for their lifesaving efforts. Constables Naresh Dabas and Mat- thew Floyd received Lifesaving Awards for saving an elderly Georgetown man's life in August 2012. While awaiting the arrival of EMS personnel, Dabas and Floyd performed CPR on the man who had collapsed just outside of his apartment and had no vi- tal signs when they arrived. The officers immediately initiated CPR. Dabas did chest compressions and Floyd, using the pocket respirator issued to him, performed rescue breathing. They continued CPR for three to four minutes until paramedics arrived and took over. The man regained a pulse and was transported to Georgetown Hospital. Upon arrival at hospital he was breath- ing on his own and in stable condition. If it had not been for the immediate response of the officers the man would have died. Five Milton officers also received Life- saving Awards and two other Milton of- ficers received St. John Ambulance Life- saving certificates. St. Francis of Assisi School students recently held their own Terry Fox Walk, as Nico Tallarico and Julieanne Gal- lant carried the cross to lead the procession.
