However in August, Town coun- cil approved the Secondary Plan, open- ing the door for growth in Georgetown South. • The new Halton Hills United Way was unveiled in November. • Also in November, Russ Miller romped home the winner in the municipal elec- tion beating Mike Armstrong two to one for the mayor's chair. And history was made in the same election when five women were elected to Halton Hills council. • In December the new council voted to ban cigarette smoking in the council chambers.
