Both communities are holding their San- ta Claus parades that day with Acton's set for 1 p.m. and Georgetown's to begin at 5 p.m. The theme of Acton's parade is A Mardi Gras Christmas and Georgetown's is Deck the Halls. The musical lineup in Acton's parade, put on by Acton Fire Fighters Association, is Acton Citizen's Band, Prime Time Brass of Rochester, New York, Optimists Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps., M.M. Robinson Drumline and Ghost Riders. Organizer Diane Spielvogel, who has been organizing the parade with husband Bill for 29 years, said they have 32 float en- tries. The parade route will be the same as last year-- starting from McKenzie Smith-Ben- nett School on Acton Blvd., to Queen St., turning onto Young St. then to Mill St. to Main St., turning left onto Knox Ave. and ending at Prospect Park. Spectators are advised to come and find a spot along the route early. Children can bring their letters to Santa Claus as Canada Post employees will be walking the route collecting them. Parade-goers are encouraged to bring along a new unwrapped toy as Halton Po- lice officers will be collecting them for the Toys for Tots program. The Georgetown parade, sponsored by the Lions Club of Georgetown, will begin at 5 p.m. Louis Violo, Georgetown Lions Club president and chair of the Parade Com- mittee, said there will be approximately 80 entries in the parade. Bands will include Prime Time Brass of Rochester, New York, North Halton Concert Band, and St. Mar- cellinus Drumline. The Georgetown route is the same as in the past-- starting at Guelph St. and Sin- clair Ave, along Guelph to Mill St., along Mill St. to Charles St. to Park St. to George- town Fairgrounds. Canada Post letter carriers will be walk- ing the route collecting Letters to Santa, and Halton Hills firefighters will be picking up new unwrapped toys from parade-goers for the Salvation Army Toy Drive. Violo said the parade is Georgetown Li- ons Club way "to give back to the kids in the community."
