Survived by his wife Ivy Vera (nee Briggs), of 68 years. Loving father of Sharon (Gary) Code, William (Linda) King, Harriet (Doug) Desjardins - Van Vugt, Muriel (Ken) Laferla and Ivy (James) Voyce. Proud grandpa of Mark, Mindy, Deanna, Laura, David, Eric, Stephanie, Melanie, Gordon, Andrew and Kevin. Great grandpa of Andrew, Brayden, Kaitlyn, Georgia, Ava, Michael, Amelie, Sophia and Zakary. Dearly remembered by his many friends and family. Predeceased by his parents, William and Edith King, his brother Gordon and his wife Muriel King, Grandchildren, Paula, Christopher and Michael. Rod was a retired employee of Smith & Stone Ltd with 41 years of service, as a Journey Man Tool and Die Mould Maker, as wel l as an employee of Crest Hardware. Much loved by her husband Donald C. Sutherland. Loving mother of Paul King (Mary) of Beckenham, England and Stuart King (Jessica) of Singapore. Proud grandmother of Laura, Oliver, Timothy, Eleanor, Rufus and great grandmother of Isabel. Sadly missed by her step daughters Susan Sutherland and Bonnie Smith of Toronto and Laurie Sutherland of Montreal. Step grandmother of 3. Dora was born in North Woolwich, England in 1925. She lived there until 1943 working in the British Admiralty as a Cypher Clerk. It was there she met Alexander King who was in the British Merchant Marine, and they were married in September 1943. By the wars end Alex had qualified with a Master Mariner Certificate and accepted a position of Captain of a Shell Oil tanker. As captain, Alex could have Dora with him on various voyages, particularly the Far East. In 1958 Alex came "ashore" and accepted a position as Harbour Master of Kuwait City. They lived in Kuwait until Alex died suddenly in April, 1973. Dora then moved back to England and took a position with a computer software company. In 1981 the company was sold to a British firm and the Principals returned to Toronto and Dora came with them to continue as Office Manager. Don and Dora met in 1985, were married in 1986 and lived in Georgetown and Terra Cotta until moving to Guelph in 2001. Dora was Past Matron of Peace Rose Chapter No. 315 OES Georgetown and also a member of Rundle Chapter No. 108 OES. The family are grateful to the staff of Riverside Glen for their wonderful compassion and care.
