The eighth-seeded Jaguars had a strong start to their game against St. Peter's but couldn't capitalize on some excellent scoring chances and trailed 1-0 going into the second inter- mission. A controver- sial goal by the Peter- borough squad on an apparent uncalled hand pass in the third period sent St. Peter's on to a 3-0 vic- tory and they captured top spot in the 16-team tourney on Friday with a 4-2 win against St. Michael's College of Toronto. CtK lost its first game of the prelimi- nary round 3-1 to 11th-ranked Michael Power of Etobicoke, then rebounded to beat second-seeded Villanova from La- Salle 3-1 and Kitchener's St. David 4-0 to land a spot in the final eight. Brad Ranson, Mike Nicolucci, Josh Kalbhenn, Conner Mortimer, and Jamie Stoyles were among the goal scorers for the Jaguars, who have qualified for the OFSAA tourney in three of the past four years as the Golden Horseshoe Athletic Confer- ence representative. "The Jags have been battling with St. Peter's for about five years now splitting our matches in what is al- ways a great game. We tip our hats to their pro- gram," said CtK assistant coach Mike Silvello. "We're very proud of the boys and what they've been able to accom- plish. To make the quarter-finals at OF- SAA twice in four years puts our pro- gram right up there with Ontario's best, and with talent we have in our commu- nity and building the team is only get- ting stronger."
