"The big thing is that we are look- ing for volunteers to help out on the committee with planning and organiz- ing the event such as organizing food and beverage. As well as, we are also looking for Volunteer Co-ordinator," said Homecoming committee chair Anita Bergsma. "Those that are in- terested in volunteering can contact me by phone 416-270-9127 or email anita.n.bergsma@gmailcom. Bergsma said the commit- tee has set the schedue for the July 26-28 event and says "it will look like the 2007 event with a few changes." Registration will be held on Friday night at the Memo- rial Arena, 6-8 p.m., where packages can be picked up and buy the new Georgetown Homecoming t-shirt. There will be a wine and cheese followed up with a celebration of the memorial arena as a special event from 8-10 p.m. Saturday night will be the Big Home- coming dance at Memorial Arena with limited tickets.The dance will be fea- turing local talent such as Double Ex- posure, Neil Cotton, and Larry Melton. In 2007, this was the highlight of the weekend says Bergsma. Price of the tickets are $30 per per- son for the dance. This will include a commemorative plastic cups with the Homecoming 2013 logo. "The committee has started a green initiative where the cups will be need- ed for the dance for beverages," said Bergsma. "This is to reduce waste dur- ing our event." Like the 2007 event, during the course of the weekend, the committee would like to open up the opportunity for local elementary, middle and high schools, clubs and organizations to host their own reunion. "We would have the ability of adding all re- unions to the Home- coming calendar and promote their event on Face- book, website, and newspaper," added Bergsma. On Sunday, closing ceremonies of the Home- coming event will be 1 p.m. at the new Georgetown branch of the Halton Hills Library with a tour of how Homecom- ing 2007's donation was used. The committee has decided that funds raised this year will be support- ing two Town projects, the Halton Hills Library and the Mold-Masters Sports- Plex arena addition.
