Known to be linked with superstition and omen, ac- tors fear to call it by name, as it was cursed by the very coven of witches from whom Shake- speare stole the words. Directed by Cat Heaven, Mac- beth will be presented in a the- atre-in the round style evenings at 7:30 p.m., May 2, 3, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 2 p.m. May 4, 5, 11 at the Georgetown Studio, 33 Stewart- town Rd. This surreal version of the play is sure to impress fans of many current books and movies, where all must fi ght for survival in a world where one man thinks he is invincible and believes that he is above the law. Although prophecy drives this play forward, one must realize that all is not as it seems, and that they must be interpreted as rid- dles. Only then, will one see that Macbeth is doomed and that the power that corrupts this fl awed protagonist, and his unchecked ambition, will surely seal his fate. Macbeth (Nevin Ameli) ob- sessed with the notion of achiev- ing unrivalled power is driven forward by his ruthless and am- bitious wife (Mikayla Eastman). They will stop at nothing, not even murder, to reach the top. Others in the cast include Vuk Marekic (Malcolm), Scott Taylor (Lennox), Jeremy Lunn (Duncan/ Siward)), Madison Poynter (Don- aldbain), Rachel Fioret (English Doctor), Ben Whipp (Scottish Doc- tor), Josiah Chang (Messenger/Y. Siward), Mathias Wharton (Ross), Sam Burwell (Gentlewoman/Old woman), Calum Anklesaria (An- gus), Myra Kohler (Banquo), Ian Taylor (Macduff), Dylan Mayberry (Sergeant), Matthew Jay (Porter/ Caithness), Patrick McIlravey (First Murderer/Seyton), Aneirin Greenslade (Fleance), Tyler Groves (Messenger), Beth Jorgensen (Menteith/ Lady Macduff)), Tori Hunter (Hecate), Serena Yakuse- Duffy, Meghan Stewart (Witches). Quinn Yakuse-Duffy (witch son). Dare you to come, tickets are $10, reserved seating; call GLT Studio, 905-877-3422. By ROXANNE THORTON Georgetown Little T heatre YC GLT's Youth Company to present post-apocalyptic version of Macbeth Nevin Ameli and Mikayla Eastman star as Macbeth and Lady Mac- beth in GLTYC's Macbeth. Photo by Roxanne Thorton On Sunday May 5, 12-5 p.m. at the Acton Legion, everyone is in- vited to check out the latest spring and sum- mer trends at a charity fashion show called: "For the Love of the Earth Fashion Show." Models from six to 60 years old, including Halton Hills loca teen Selena Hoyer (Miss Teen Canada Charity) will walk the runway in beautiful outfi ts from local designers and stores. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Money raised will help send Hoyer to compete in the Miss Teen Tour- ism Intercontinental Internation- al Pageant July 22, in the Domini- can Republic. In 2011, Hoyer was crowned Miss Teen Halton Region 2011, when she competed in the Miss Canada Globe Pageant. As a re- gional title holder her duties were to do as much as she could for her community and her platform the Georgetown Bread Basket for one year. All of that hard work led her to be crowned Miss Teen Canada Charity 2012. Hoyer is the fi rst to have earned this (Teen) title and she's very grateful too. "It's a lot of hard work," says 15-year- old Hoyer. "It's not all about beauty, it's how you present yourself and speaking ability too. This pageant expe- rience has changed me for the better. Besides helping with all of the charities, I also need to keep my grades up to 82% or risk los- ing the title; I need to work very hard for this if I want to make a difference in my own life." Hoyer is also hold- ing a food drive for the George- town Bread Basket and Acton Foodshare. Please bring a non- perishable food item. Tickets are at these business in Downtown Georgetown: D-Moos radio, Curves and The Way We Were and Make It So Printing and at Hair in Style in George- town Market Place.
