APRIL 27 KITTEN & YOUNG CAT SHOWCASE YOU AND YOUR PET Tossed out of a car, Max lives on Pierre has a French fl avour Young cat Poppy is friendly and playful Pierre arrived at the Shelter in a wild arrangement of fur which desperately needed grooming so that he could parade his true self! After a Staff member's gentle administrations, Pierre revealed himself as a male, white miniature poodle, weighing in at 24 lbs; approximately six years old. Pierre felt so good after grooming that he strutted his "stuff" proudly all round the yard to the delight of the caregivers. Pierre is housebroken, has his basic com- mands, is personable and energetic. An adult only, or a family with children old- er than 10 years would be the best match for this little man. Pierre is an eager walker, and loves to play with toys-- "fetch" is his favourite game; he displays a "happy go lucky" personality, loves people, exercise and "walkies". Pierre was transferred from another Shelter where he arrived as a stray but is putting all that behind him as he looks forward to exploring new horizons with his own loving family. If Pierre interests you please call the Shelter at 519-833-2287 or email adop- tions@uppercredit.com to say Bonjour! By JUDITH-ANNE KOLU Upper Credit Humane Society volunteer Can you believe Max was tossed out of a car? Indeed it is so very hard for us to be- lieve, when you see Max snuggling in his bed, trusting and stretching as you softly speak to him and enjoying your caresses. Max, a handsome neutered brown tabby with white bib and accents, was probably born in 2010 but has used up at least one of his "nine lives". Max owes a debt of gratitude to a compassionate lady who brought Max to the Shelter. However, Max has landed on his feet and meeting him was a pleasure, while talking softly to him I was rewarded by the revival of his "purr machine". He is not hand shy and let me pet him inti- mately at fi rst meeting. I am told he likes to purr when you hold him, is generally good with the other cats in his home room. Max would make a lovely companion in a family that would ensure he was never thrown away (like garbage) again but would live the loved life he surely de- serves. Call the Shelter at 519-833-2287 or email adoptions@uppercredit.com to meet a true survivor. Look for Max's full story online at www.theifp.ca/community Poppy was profi led before and is pa- tiently waiting for her new home. She was left in the Glen Williams Park just before Remembrance Day, hence her name. She has a sleek short black coat and is about two years old. Her foster family cannot believe Poppy has not been adopted. She is friendly with other cats and dogs and has a pretty round face to match her sweet per- sonality. Poppy is happy to follow people around the house enjoying their presence but not always requiring attention. When she would like attention, Poppy asks very nicely to be petted by jumping up beside people to tap lightly on their shoul- der or arm. She has learned to play fetch and announces when she has found her favourite ball to start a new game. She is a small cat not prone to weight gain; she does not beg for people food or desire treats. Poppy would be great as a companion to an older cat or dog and would do well in a quieter home with older children. Poppy will be at Pet Valu on Guelph St. on April 27, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for adoption. By BARB JOHNSON North Halton Kitten Rescue By JUDITH-ANNE KOLU Upper Credit Humane Society volunteer
