Scout is assessed as being a Lab/ Husky cross who came to UCHS from an- other Shelter where his time was running out. He possesses a black glossy coat and his husky heritage is shown in one ice blue eye and one gentle brown one. At two years of age and weighing 40 lbs he possesses the very lean physique of a marathon runner. Scout exhibits the joy of youth, energetic and hopeful for his fu- ture. He is housebroken, has basic com- mands, appears fi ne with other dogs and cats, good to walk with a head halter, and a handler who realizes Scout's nature is sen- By JUDITH-ANNE KOLU Upper Credit Humane Society volunteer Bubbles is not a happy member of the cat clan at UCHS; she is our "Greta Gar- bo" who made the "I want to be alone" line so famous. Bubbles wants to live life in- dependently, so if you would welcome a feline who would not be a huge intrusion in your life, here she is. Bubbles is a very pretty calico cat, short haired, born on March 28, 2008. Originally adopted from us her owner passed away and Bubbles found her way back to us. Bubbles is not interested in sitting on laps, or being picked up; she will some- times allow stroking but it is very low on her needs. Bubbles is happiest curled up in her own space and not being harassed with interaction whether it is human or fe- line. This young lady would be perfect for a working family as she would be happy on her own while you are away and you would not be worried as you know that is what she wants. Bubbles is VERY unhappy here and it breaks our hearts to see what used to be a very happy cat un- happy. Another special thing about Bubbles is her "grum- bling/talking" while eating, which probably is a defense mechanism to keep her companions away from her food! An extremely patient, adult-only fam- ily would be best--defi nitely no children as they would not understand her super- independent personality. She should be the "only" furball in the household to en- courage her trust. Come and meet Bubbles, who will probably ignore you but if you can manage to give love without much in return at the beginning, the end reward will be worthwhile. Eden was dumped with three other young cats at a rural property in Dec. 2010, the four huddled together in the cold un- til they were caught and brought into the NHKR. It has taken a long time for her to trust people; she was wary of being handled and is still cautious around peo- ple. With time and patience, she has learned to trust her foster family, allowing them to pick her up with little squirming and never any scratching (even for nail clip- ping). Strangers will send her running but she will return for pets when it is quiet. She enjoys jumping on a bed to roll around and be played with. Eden is passionate about eating canned food, meat and leafy greens which can be used to endear her to her new family. Eden gets along incredibly well with other cats, even grumpy older ones; she is non-threatening and has a quiet, calm de- meanour. She had no problems with a large friendly dog. Eden enjoys grooming other cats and prefers to cuddle up with another cat for naps. A friendly cat in her new home would be benefi cial to help her settle in. Eden and Poppy are very good friends and would be delighted to be adopted together. Scout loves his playtime, is a busy dog, but needs more than we can provide. Scout would thrive on as much physical and mental stimulation that he can get coupled with gentle guidance as he learns what's needed. He would excel in any dog sport, and has the added plus that he is eager to please his humans and the extra attention would only reap rewards for all concerned. Adult only, or a family with children 16 years and over, are the best match for Scout who is a jumper and not a good fi t for younger children.
