Do you want to get rid of the winter blues? Are you ready for some outdoor fun and excitement? Ronald McDonald will be the special guest this year! Prospect Park will be buzzing with lots of outdoor activities for the entire family to enjoy and all events are free. Food conces- sions will be available featuring burger and hotdog combos, funnel cakes and beaver tails! Please bring a non-perishable food item to fill the Halton Region Police Van full of food for the Acton Foodshare. The police van will be on site at Prospect Park from 1-4 p.m. To kick off the Acton Winter Carnival, The Acton Town Hall Centre will be hosting a community dance Saturday, January 25. Doors will open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $5 and are available at Dollar Stretcher Daze and Acton Home Hardware. Tickets will also be available for $7 at the door. Come dance the night away with the sounds of Billy Keys and our Rockin' DJ. Tanner's Pub & Grill will be hosting the bar and selling food during the evening. Look for some fun activities including the selec- tion of the Snow Queen and King, spot dances and door prize. The Acton Air Cadets will be hosting a Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, January 26 also at the Acton Town Hall Centre. The breakfast will run from 9-11 a.m. This is a fundraiser for the Acton Air Cadets. Festivities will start at Prospect Park at 11 a.m. Sunday and there will be a host of activities for the entire family to enjoy. There will be tractor and wagon rides, out- door curling run by the Acton Curling Club, Acton House League Hockey Tournament, public skating and a Snow Golf Mini Putt competition. The Acton Legion is run- ning a Snow Horse Shoe Pit and the Acton Scouts are running an obstacle course. If you are cold and need to warm up head to the Boat House for a rousing game of bingo run by the Acton Seniors Centre. The Acton YMCA will be doing face paint- ing and crafts for children. There will be ice block building or come build a snowman from out of tickle trunk of hats, scarves and mitts for accessories. The "Good Guys Carting Dogs" are back by popular demand and will be giving children rides from 12-3 p.m. Ice sculpt- ing demonstrations are back as well; come and watch professional ice carvers create an amazing sculpture out of a block of ice right before your eyes! At 4 p.m. at the Acton Town Hall Cen- tre watch the Chili Cook-Off! Chili will be judged at 3 p.m. by Gerry Kentner and Lori Gysel from What's Cookin' and Acton's own Ryan Parker from Q107. Chili and refresh- ments will be available at 4 p.m. Closing ceremonies will start at 4 p.m. at the Town Hall Centre where presentations will be made for the photography contest, chili cook-off, and the mini putt competi- tion. Raffles and 50/50 draw will be made at this time as well.
