The MTO over 80's driv- ing test is returning to Georgetown as of Jan. 22. You will now be able to go to the Georgetown Library to take your test but you must first make your ap- pointment by calling 1-800-396-4233. A huge thank you to all the seniors who called, wrote or e-mailed your feelings regarding this situation to your Member of Provincial Parliament or Town officials. We are a group to be reckoned with! Life has returned to our centre. Ac- tive Living programs are under way. Drop-in programs continue. The se- vere cold weather put a bit of a damper on things for the first week of January but it is full steam ahead now. I know there are some of you read- ing this column who would like to drop a few pounds. Why not join us at our TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) meeting every Friday at 9 a.m.? We try to help each other in the 'battle of the bulge'. Come on in some Friday to look us over. I bet you will stay. The Seniors' Band are in need of a key board player. If you are interested please call Sherry in the Office and she will pass your name and number along to the Band. They practice every Thursday morning. Have you accessed our web site lately? The web address is www.hal- tonhills.ca/seniors. It contains infor- mation about how your Centre oper- ates and keeps you posted with current affairs at the Centre. People join the centre for various reasons and we are always happy to hear back from you as to how we are meeting those needs. This is your last opportunity to sign up for "My Happy Valentine's" trip on Friday, February 14. Cost is $82. New travel brochure soon! MTO testing returns to Georgetown By FLORENCE RIEHL Georgetown Seniors Centre Over 90 members and friends en- joyed the belated New Year's Dinner this past Monday. Many went home with door prizes and Willie Veerman was lucky enough to win theatre tickets for a show in George- town. The dinner was delicious and the entertainment was provided by The Lone Arrangers. They travelled from Niagara Falls and were great! Everyone was up dancing or tapping their toes as they enjoyed the music. The 50/50 draw was won by Geoff and Judy Knuff. On Tuesday Jan. 21 at 1:30 p.m. you are invited to attend a presentation by Dr. Sawiak from the Norval Wellness Centre. Dr. Sawiak will be talking about Natural Options for our Optimal Health. The Bingo planned for Saturday, Jan- uary 25 has been cancelled. The Friday lunch on Jan. 24 will be Shepard's Pie and a garden salad. If this tempts your appetite add your name to the list. Have you renewed your membership for 2014? If you have been away or it slipped your mind, your name will be pulled from the 50/50 drum on Jan. 20. The Centre received the good news this week that during the three months (April, May and June) while renovations are taking place to the Acton Seniors Centre and community hall we will be able to hold events that require more space at the Acton Legion. They have a great facility with lots of parking. The rest of the programs that do not need as much space will take place at the Boat House in the park, again a facility with lots of parking. I am sure that all the up- heaval will be well worth it when we re- turn to our permanent home. It will give us the opportunity to expand programs and offer other services that we are not able to provide at the moment. The bridge players would love to see more new faces. By JULIE CONROY Acton Seniors Centre Acton Legion will stand-in for events during Acton Seniors Centre's renovations
