June and Family NELLIS, Edna Irene (née Cook) April 10th, 1921 - January 20th, 2014 Edna passed away peacefully at Eden House on Monday, January 20th, 2014 in her 93rd year. She was the beloved wife of the late Mansell (1995) and is survived by her five sons: Lloyd and his wife Pat, Roy and his late wife Joan, Rae and his wife Lynda, Ralph and his wife Wendy and Wayne and his wife Donna. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Edna was predeceased by an infant grandson, her sister Florence Mead and her brother John (Jack) Cook. She was a Life Member of the Dublin Women's Institute, a former member of the Acton Y's Menettes, as well as being an accomplished artist and quilter. The family wish to express their sincere thanks to the Staff and Management at Eden House Nursing Home for the wonderful care their mother received over the past year. It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Josephine 'Jo' on January 4th, 2014 in Ottawa, Ontario. She is survived by her children Patrick (Cheryl) and Pamela (James), her grandchildren Eiley and Grant Tarlton and sister Mary McLaughlin ( Leonard) of Edmonton. She will be missed by her in-laws of the Currie clan: Daniel, Shawn (Diane), Bert (Kathleen), Ruth, Ray (Donna), Evelyn, Violet and Pat and also John Giles and Nancy Makohonyk. She is predeceased by her husband of 53 years Joseph 'Buzz' Currie, her parents Magdelena and Peter Makohonyk, siblings Steve, Sophie, Anne and Paul and in-laws Keith and Pat Currie. Jo will be missed by her many nieces, nephews and friends around the world. Jo was a keen gardener who enjoyed her writing and lunch groups in Georgetown, Ontario and supporting the Optimists Club and CASHI cancer driving services. We would like to thank the staff at the Stillwater Retirement Community, Champlain CCAC, Mandy Jodoin, Dr. Hacker, Deanna Kerr and Derek Jackson for their kindness and compassion. A private cremation has been held. A funeral service will be held on July 25, 2014 at the Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa, Ontario and a double interment of Jo and Buzz will follow at the National Military Cemetery at Beechwood. To send expressions of sympathy visit www.jsjonesandsonfuneralhome.com REES, Myrelle With sad hearts we announce the passing of Myrelle Marie Noella Rees (nee MARCOUX) of Georgetown, Ontario, on January 16th, 2014. Myrelle was born in Coaticook, Quebec as the second of Albert and Marie Marcoux's six chi ldren. She passed away peaceful ly in Georgetown Hospital with her family close by. Myrelle lived her life in Coaticook until 1943, when she was posted to the Air Force in Alberta. She travelled around Canada with the RCAF until she fell ill with tuberculosis, ending her time with the forces. During her years of hospitalization, she met her husband Stuart Rees, another Air Force veteran who was also on bed rest after falling ill with TB. The two married in February 1951, and had three children. The family moved homes several times over the years to Montreal, Vancouver, and Toronto, and the couple decided to enjoy their retirement at Bayshore Village in Brechin, Ontario by Lake Simcoe, and in Port Charlotte Florida. Stuart and Myrelle later moved to Foxboro Green in Baden, Ontario, and following Stuart's passing in 2010, Myrelle moved to Mountainview Terrace in Georgetown, Ontario. She was 92 years old at the time of her passing. Myrelle will be remembered for her strong spirit, sharp intellect, and kind heart. She loved to travel, and with her husband in tow she travelled the world over the course of her life. Myrelle loved bridge, nature, and social events, rendering herself very popular everywhere she lived. Most of all Myrelle loved her family, and will be missed dearly by her three children, Christine (John) Rossi of Sault St. Marie, Don (Laura) Rees of Ballinafad, and Carol (Ralph) Knoll of Mississauga, as well as her eight grandchildren, Kathleen, Michelle, Jessica, Marcus, Mackenzie, Mitchell, Haleigh, and Bethany. She is survived by her sister Pierrette St-Pierre, and brother Denis Marcoux.
