Local man, Mark Feldhaus and his family are opening Pita Pit, healthy fast casual food chain founded in Kingston, the first week of March. Both Feldhaus and his wife were born and raised in the area and were search- ing for a healthy din- ing experience. That's when they decided to open a Pita Pit in Acton. Feldhaus said the decision was a no-brainer. "We saw a huge demand for a healthy dining option. Even before we con- sidered franchising, Pita Pit always stood out to us, we are very excited to bring the con- cept to Acton," Feldhaus said. Pita Pit will offer customiz- able pitas that can be stuffed with a range of meats, veg- gies and topped with deli- cious sauces and a variety of cheeses. They also have a flat top for hot pitas and sautéed vegetables. "At Pita Pit, the customer is truly in charge," Feldhaus said. Feldhaus expressed that the new business will add about 10-15 jobs to the community. Pita Pit is also a charitable partner with Canadian Tire Jumpstart which helps finan- cially disadvantaged children in the community be able to participate in or- ganized sports and athletics. Feldhaus also plans on grow- ing Pita Pit's School Lunch Program in Acton. "We want kids eat- ing better so we will be working on that from Day 1. We believe being a positive contributing member to the community is a part of doing business the right way," Feld- haus said. Pita Pit will open its doors in Acton at 391 Queen Street East, Unit B1. Feldhaus believes that it can be a fresh new addition to the town's food scene.
