Councillor Bryan Lewis, the incum- bent for Ward 2, has entered his name for another term on council. Lewis has served on council since 2000. Retired Independent & Free Press photographer and columnist Ted Brown has also filed his candidacy for Ward 2. Also throwing his hat into the Ward 2 battle is Philip Lewin of Glen Williams. Rob Boleychuk, also of Glen Williams, had already filed his nomina- tion papers to run in Ward 2 in Janu- ary. Last month, longtime Ward 2 Coun- cillor Joan Robson announced her re- tirement from politics. In Ward 3, newcomers Josef Jones and Rob Demille have filed their nomi- nations papers to run against incum- bent Dave Kentner, who filed his pa- pers in January. In the other wards, only Waldo Pa- quete has filed to run in Ward 4 while incumbent Clark Somerville has filed to run for the Wards 1&2 Regional Councillor position. Alice Strachan has filed to run for the Halton Hills trustee seat on the Halton District School Board while Gary Carr has filed to run again for the Halton Region's top job, Chair of Re- gional Council. The municipal election nomination period runs from Jan. 2 to Sept. 12. Nominations may be filed by can- didates with the Clerk prior to Nomi- nation Day at any time, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. exclud- ing statutory holidays, until Thursday, Sept. 11.
