Jordan Boyer, 23, lived in an apartment in the Dovercourt Rd. and Dupont St. area in Toronto with three close friends who went to high school together in George- town. Katie Charron, 21, and Alysia Graham, 22, also perished in the blaze. Ethan Leal, 21, suffered minor injuries The Ontario Fire Marshal's Office is in- vestigating. So far, investigators found that there were no working smoke detectors on the second floor, where the victims were found. Boyer worked at a Starbucks on Univer- sity Ave. "JB was such a bright light even on the darkest, dreariest day," Dory Ainsworth posted on the J.S. Jones & Son website. "He always had a smile and something pleasant to say. He was only a year younger than my own son so seeing JB do so well on his own was encouraging for me as my own son makes his way through life. I am heartbroken for his family ... may they find peace in knowing that JB was loved by so many." Boyer is survived by his mom Linda and his brothers Aaron and Cameron of George- town, and his father Ian Boyer McCallum and his fiance Debbie of Parry Sound, grandparents Carmel and Tom Moriarity, and the late Guy and Margaret Boyer. Funeral arrangements for Charron and Graham have not yet been made public at press time. Charron's young life has saved five oth- ers. The 21-year-old woman's organs were donated on Saturday morning at Mount Sinai Hospital. "It's her legacy now," said her father, Steve Charron. "She would have loved that, to give someone else a second chance." Charron had just a few hours to say goodbye to his only child after flying in from the Northwest Territories, where he works as a mechanic in a diamond mine. "I got a chance to see her but she had no brain activity," he said. "She was without a heartbeat for far too long." "She was a wonderful, soft human be- ing," Charron said. "She taught me right from wrong. She always reminded me not to make U-turns, not to swear. She had a great sense of humour." He said she had begun to emerge from a fog that folded in on her after her mother Susan's death from cancer in 2011. Char- ron said his daughter felt at home living with Boyer, Graham, and Leal. The group had been close since their high school days in Georgetown. Saturday night, 22 Chinese lanterns were released by friends, family and colleagues of Graham, a budding photographer, who had planned to celebrate her birthday Sat- urday night. Her mom Kristi Graham and her son Austin ended up joining Alysia's group of friends for the memorial. "We said our peace and let them fly," said Will Wilson, one of Graham's col- leagues, who helped organize the event. "It moved Kristi and Austin as it would have been what Alysia would have loved." The birthday party-turned-memorial "moved our hearts from sorrow to thankful for knowing her." -- With files from Eamonn Maher, and Torstar News Service Fire victims from left to right: Alysia Gra- ham, 21, Katie Char- ron, 21, Jordan Boyer, 23 and Ethan Leal, 21, the only survivor. --Facebook photo Toronto fire tragedy claims friends The best way to find your next used car.
