Well, Gardiner Public School is taking ac- tion. On February 27, Gardiner hosted GPS Sweater Day! On GPS Sweater Day our school lowered the tempera- ture in our classrooms, causing stu- dents to wear sweaters. By lowering the temperature, Gardiner used less energy and put less greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide in the air. Green- house gases act like a blanket around our planet, which cause the world to become hotter. This makes more animals endangered, including polar bears, fish, north Atlantic whales, giant pandas and elephants. This issue was brought to the atten- tion of our Grade 6 class through our inquiry projects, and then we heard about the World Wildlife Foundation's #SweaterDay. We knew that GPS had to help and do something about it. We immediately wanted to make a dif- ference, because we know that global warming isn't getting any better. So, class 6-2 made GPS Sweater Day an actual event at our school (with the help of some GPS staff of course). Class 6-2 went all out with videos, posters, and letters. We really wanted the school to know what was going on and what we are working towards. Remember, this isn't rocket science so you can do it at your house too. To- gether, not just Gardiner Public School, but Georgetown as a whole, can make a difference, one sweater at a time Gardiner Public School students take action on climate change
