Since 1999 Most of the main trail of the Bruce Trail in Halton Hills has been cleared as best could be done with so much snow underfoot, says the local club in its latest update. "With the melting snow we can get back to clearing the debris from the ice storm," said Maureen Smith, Halton Hills Chapter of the Toronto Bruce Trail Club. "The side trails are not so good, but will gradually be cleared by our volunteers. Please refer to the websites of Halton Conservation and Credit Valley Con- servation for the state of trails in these areas." Smith warns with the melting of the snow, some parts of Trail will be under water and most minor streams will become much wider. Be aware that strong winds can bring down broken branches left hanging after the ice storm. Take care if moving off the trail to avoid wet areas as this can lead to unseen hazards. Be aware that use of the Trail is at your own risk, she said. Cleanup of Bruce Trail continues Tree damage on the Bruce Trail seen on a hike April 13. Photo by Mary Lou Foreman
