D'Angelo, 39, crossed the line of the 26.2-mile race in a time of three hours, 45 minutes and 48 seconds and was the 4,662nd woman to finish the famed event. Georgetown's Mark Rush cracked the four-hour mark as the 57-year-old clocked in at 3:59:13, good for 994th in the men's 55-59 age group. Forty-five-year-old Jean Cher- waiko of Georgetown finished in a time of 4:01:04 and Kirsten Cooper, 50, recorded a time of 4:03:48. Cherwaiko, who ran her de- but marathon in Toronto in 2008, qualified for Boston for the first time after surpassing the four-hour mark at the 2012 Hamilton Marathon in a time of 3:53:19. "I trained outside through the toughest winter five days a week to prepare for the hills of Bos- ton," she said. "The people of Boston were so generous with providing food, water, ice, tissues, popsicles along the course. You could not have asked for a better crowd and they love Canadians." Finlayson gets 11th ace An introductory flag football program for boys and girls age 6-8 established by the Hal- ton Hills Minor Football Association will kick off this spring in Georgetown. Tyke Flag Football runs for 10 weeks begin- ning this Sunday with an Intro Assessment Day to evaluate the players for team selections. The assessments are slated to run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Kiwanis Field at Georgetown District High School. The tyke league will have a 7-on-7, non-con- tact format designed to develop skills such as throwing, catching and running pass routes. "The goal is to introduce kids to the game of football and to learn the skills involved," said HHMFA president Jonathon Nedeljkovic. "Other organizations have called the tyke league their grassroots training system. The kids don't have to worry about tackling or blocking and it's played in a fun organized league environment." Cost is $175 to register for the 10-week sea- son called the Ten Days of Summer, which includes a skills development day on Sunday, May 18, followed by the kickoff of the eight- week game schedule on Sunday, June 1. All games will be played at Kiwanis Field and the Day of Tykes final day is set for Sunday, July 13. Davis is a graduate of the Georgetown Rebels and the Georgetown Impact volleyball programs, joining fellow lo- cal natives Jeff Scott and Matt Scott as student-athletes com- peting for the Knights. "I really like the smaller campus and how nice Niagara College seems," said the 5-foot- 7 Davis. "The girls and coaching staff welcomed me with open arms and I am excited to get started." Davis will enroll in the Niagara Col- lege recreation and leisure services program beginning in September. "Bailey is a very composed player with tremendous up- side. She has fantastic ball control, a high volleyball IQ, and will be able to adjust and lead our offence," said Niagara head coach Joey Martins. "She understands what needs to be accomplished and will be a great offensive leader."
