LOCATION: Council Chambers, Civic Centre, 1 Halton Hills Drive, Georgetown The portion of the GTA West Preliminary Route Planning Study Area within the Town of Halton Hills includes lands bounded by (Refer to Key Map): i) North - 10 Side Road and the Hamlet of Norval ii) East - Winston Churchill Blvd. iii) South - Highway 401 iv) West - rear lot line of lots fronting on Eighth Line The Province of Ontario is undertaking the GTA West EA, and to date has determined the need for a future Provincial highway from Hwy 400 to Hwy 401/Hwy 407 in Halton Hills, within the Preliminary Route Planning Study Area. Phase 2 of the GTA West EA which will identify the location of the transportation corridor within the Study Area has recently commenced. Purpose and Effect of the Proposed Amendment: The proposed amendment will implement corridor protection on the lands within the Preliminary Route Planning Study Area to prevent development that would preclude the future location of transportation corridor(s), pending the completion of the GTA West EA process, and any EA for an East-West connection identified in HPBATS. The Town also proposes to implement modifications to Official Plan Amendment No. 10 in order to re-locate/ re-phase the Town's supply of employment lands to the 2021 planning horizon in the area west of Eighth Line, north of Steeles Avenue, outside of the Preliminary Route Planning Study Area (Refer to Key Map). The Town of Halton Hills would then initiate a land use planning exercise (i.e. secondary plan) for those lands and potential additional lands. Additional Information: Following the statutory public meeting, Town staff will prepare a report to Council which will respond to oral and written comments received, and provide a final recommendation on the proposed Official Plan Amendment and proposed modifications to Official Plan Amendment No. 10. The group held its first fundraiser in April at Ares Family Restaurant, featuring a buffet dinner, live music and raffles. Ac- cording to chapter president Johnathan Connell, the event raised over $3,000. "For our first fundraiser, it was abso- lutely amazing," he said. "These dollars will be put back into the community for programs and services for families in north Halton." Now, the local chapter leadership council will be tasked with deciding how to spend the funds. Connell said some op- tions include reading and social skill pro- grams, community awareness initiatives and activities for individuals with autism and their families.
