In his book, Canada Cycle & Motor: The CCM Story, author John A. McK- enty traces the history of this familiar Canadi- an company from its formation in 1899 until its eventual demise in 1983. Along the way he demonstrates the dominant role CCM played in Canadian culture throughout the 20th century. With its bikes in summer and skates in win- ter, CCM was as much a part of the Canadian psyche as the seasons them- selves. But where did the company begin? Who was behind it? How did it come to dominate the Ca- nadian bicycle and hockey mar- ket? McKenty will use vintage pho- tographs and company memo- rabilia to take a light-hearted look at the surprising answers to these and other questions regarding this iconic Canadian company. Members of the public are welcome to this free meeting. History of cycling is topic of Historical Society meeting Happy 101st Birthday from your Loving Family Violet Roberts
