We want to tell him dark days are done and bright days will come and we will love him during his stay with us. Sunny is a striking male, husky /grey- hound mix, neutered, age estimated at about three years old, transferred from another Shelter. Whatever Sunny's past was, he is an extremely nervous dog, who will need an experienced owner who has brought a shy dog to its potential with kindness, oo- dles of patience and love. Sunny is another dog that will need an interested fam- ily to visit him several times before adoption as he is shy and skittish at first and needs to recognize you mean him no harm. Just meeting Sunny makes him nervous, if he does not know you; he will try and walk away, avoiding the perceived intruder. Avoidance seems to be his mecha- nism to protect himself from any perceived threat. He does not growl or snap, just wants to leave the area a stranger is in; even in his pod he paces with nervous energy. That said, in his short time in our care, he is already showing improvement with our caregivers and armed with this confidence he will cuddle in your lap, even give kisses and accepts caresses. Sunny also needs to sniff you and to leash him you have to come down to his level before you can touch him or put him on leash. Unfortunately as he is not food motivated tempting treats will not make the job easier-- he just has to learn to trust you before unfurling his inner self. Sunny seems to be happy with other dogs and we feel that a new family might enjoy "confidence train- ing" with him to progress more quickly. Beautiful outwardly, fretting inwardly, an ADULT ONLY FAMILY is pre- ferred; or a family with teens 16+ who fully realize that all new things in Sunny's life have to be introduced at a slower pace than with an average dog. Quite often, once the dog sees he is safe and you are indeed his family extending routine, love and kindness, magical things happen. This is how he is at the Shelter which is new to him and in an under- standing family situation all things are pos- sible when a perfect match is accomplished. We have had many successful placements over the years of dogs like Sunny (just re- cently Neska) and see no reason that Sunny's story will not have a "Happy Ending"...it just may take more time. Interested families please contact the Shelter at 519-833-2287 or e-mail adop- tions@uppercredit.com to help make this Sunny shine. Special Sunny waiting to shine By JUDITH-ANNE KOLU Upper Credit Humane Society volunteer Thimble is a very handsome, young clas- sic tabby with white, male who has been in our foster program for 10 months. He and his two sisters were discovered on Murdoch St. when they were 12 weeks old. He was very fearful and timid when he started in the program, but has gradually progressed. He is now very friendly and playful. He runs down the stairs in the morning for his teaspoon of soft food and runs up in the evening for his two treats at bedtime. He loves to be patted, and throws himself on to his side to be patted in all his favorite places. He is open and friendly with new cats. He loves to play with the other cats and chases and tumbles with great glee. He jumps up on the bed beside the dog and will lie down beside her. He loves to be brushed, and is learning to have his nails clipped. He lies in the window in the sun and watches the birds and squirrels for hours. Thimble would do well in an adult fami- ly or a family with older children. He would love a family with another cat or cats and/or a quiet dog. It will take time for Thimble to adapt to his new home and whoever adopts him will have to exercise patience until he feels safe and secure. He is a very lov- ing boy, and whoever adopts him will be very happy that they did. Thimble and Popsicle will be available for adoption Saturday, 1-3 p.m., at Pet Valu, 369 Mountainview Rd. S.
