Spring Fashions Have Arrived! Denise Hardenne named president and CEO of Halton Healthcare Services Denise Hardenne was named president and CEO of Halton Healthcare Services (HHS) today (May 26). Hardenne, who was appointed interim presi- dent and CEO on March 31, succeeds John Oli- ver, who retired on April 30 after 23 years at the helm. The official an- nouncement was by Judy Wilson, chair of the HHS board of direc- tors. "We are extremely pleased with this ap- pointment. The search committee's decision to recommend De- nise was unanimously supported by the board," said Wilson. Hardenne called her new role a "great honour and privilege." "We have a great leadership team, ded- icated staff and physicians, tremendous support from our volunteer and founda- tion organizations and exceptional com- munity support," she said. "Each of our three hospitals play an important role in the communities we serve and HHS is highly regarded as a leader in community healthcare. I am looking forward to successfully complet- ing our three capital projects, leading the continued evolution of HHS and assur- ing a strong future for this high perform- ing healthcare organization." Wilson said Hardenne will steer HHS into the future. "She is an accomplished senior execu- tive in the healthcare sector with a prov- en track record. In addition to providing continuity and stability within the orga- nization, we are certain that under De- nise's leadership, we will continue to see HHS ex- cel in the years to come." Hardenne brings more than 28 years of leader- ship experience to the job -- having joined HHS in 2000 as the vice-pres- ident, then senior vice president of professional practice. Prior to being appoint- ed interim president and CEO, Hardenne was HHS executive vice-president and led hospital opera- tions, quality and enter- prise risk management. In this capacity, she was also the executive lead for operational readiness planning across all three HHS redevelopment projects. "Denise has a demonstrated commit- ment and expertise in identifying and successfully implementing and sustain- ing operational efficiencies," said Wilson in a press statement. "She has a proven ability to balance the quality and fiscal agenda." Hardenne is an alumnus of the Uni- versity of Saskatchewan, graduating with bachelor of science in nursing and master of continuing education degrees. She has a Wharton School of Busi- ness Fellowship in management for chief nurse executives and has completed Rot- man's not-for-profit governance essen- tials program.
