COMMENT The way we were What was known as the Old Bank Building on the north-west corner of Main and Mill streets in 1949 was erected in 1918 by the Merchant's Bank of Canada, which later became the Bank of Montreal. The bank occupied the building until it was forced to close in 1943 under war regulations. The property was used by the Town Council as municipal offices. It was purchased by the Royal Bank in 1947 and housed the Georgetown branch until 1973 when the bank relocated across the street. To the person or persons who stole the horse ornament and door knocker. Scotsdale Farm is to be enjoyed by all. The site has a very rich his- tory- which not everyone is aware of. While the farm does appear to be abandoned, it is used on a regular basis by hikers and nature lovers. To help increase the aware- ness of the farm and help ensure the property does not further de- cay, Friends of Scotsdale Farm has been formed. This past weekend, one of the door ornaments was removed. About two months ago, another door ornament was removed. These two items really add to the character of the farm. If you like the items, please take a photo of them - but leave them for all to enjoy. If you took the two items, can you please return them? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for returning our dog safely Around 10 p.m. on Friday night of the Victoria Day long weekend, my husband and I heard a knock on our door. It was a teenage boy who had been going door-to-door with our dog, who had gotten out of our backyard, and was trying to return him to his home safely. My husband immediately thanked him for his genuine, selfless act. It's nice to see that there are such caring youths in our community and we fully intend to pay it forward. To the young boy who returned our dog home, thanks again. Brian and Elena Normore, Halton Hills
