The Best Price on QualityWindows and Doors From June 9 to 27, Halton Region is providing a special oversized bulk brush call-in collection service for ru- ral residents to assist with the cleanup of rural areas as a result of December's ice storm. The call-in service adds to the spe- cial bulk brush collection program currently in progress using standard waste collection vehicles. The new call- in collection service is to be used by rural residents for brush material not previously collected because the mate- rial was oversized or placed in a collec- tion location that was not accessible. "By the end of June, it is estimated that over 17,000 tonnes of storm-re- lated brush and regular yard waste material will have been received at the Halton Waste Management Site for processing which is almost triple the normal volume of this material at this time of year," said Gary Carr, Halton's Regional Chair. "Halton Region contin- ues to use all available resources while working in partnership with the local municipalities to manage and process storm related damage and debris." Residents in rural areas must dial 311 between June 9-27 to schedule an appointment to have their oversized brush material collected and chipped. Rural residents must place their over- sized brush in an organized pile no more than 10 feet from the roadside in front of their property. Residents must ensure that the brush does not block the road and is not placed inside ditches. Brush must be placed out by 7 a.m. on the Monday of the week fol- lowing their call to schedule collection. Branches and stumps are to be no wid- er than 13 inches in diameter. Residents who have bulk brush ma- terials that are larger than 13 inches in diameter must continue to make their own arrangements to have the materials collected and taken for dis- posal. Storm-related brush debris and chipped materials can still be dropped off at the Halton Waste Management Site by residents and contractors from across the Region free of charge until June 30.
