Holly Metcalfe was among several Grades 11-12 GDHS students in the school's Cosmo class who paid a visit to the Residence for a spa day to help mark the start of Seniors' Month. Teacher Pat Dileo said that plans are in the works to bring the residents to GDHS in the fall for another spa day. A similar visit by Cosmo students was made to the Bennett Centre earlier this year. Photo by Eamonn Maher Door-to-door mail delivery to end for some next summer Georgetown residents (postal codes starting with L7G) should be receiving an information package in the mail from Canada Post in the next couple days as the corporation begins the process of eliminating door-to-door delivery here. Canada Post plans to convert those residents, (5,525 homes) and businesses (115) from door- to-door service to community mailboxes early next summer (2015). Daria Hill of Canada Post Communications said she didn't yet have information on when Acton would be making the switch to commu- nity boxes. The package will tell residents how they can express their priorities and preferenc- es about their new delivery method. "This is a process we are currently using with our 2014 conversion process and it has pro- vided very useful insights and facilitated our planning with the city planning department to help us choose safe, suitable locations," said Hill, adding that no regular full or part-time employee will lose their job as a result of the change. "As we have stated throughout this process, we will reduce our workforce largely through attrition as people retire," said Hill. Canada Post spokesperson John Hamilton said the elimination of door-to-door delivery was announced in December as part of the cor- poration's five-point plan to return Canada Post to financial self-sufficiency.
