The new transportation corridor will include: a 400-series highway -- part of it through the south end of Halton Hills, a tran- sitway, and potential goods movement prior- ity features. As part of the second stage of the Environmental Assessment Study, a preferred route and interchange locations will be select- ed from Hwy. 400 in the east to Hwy 401 in the west in the vicinity of the Hwy 401/407 ETR interchange in Halton Hills. A wide swath of Halton Hills land is includ- ed within the study area -- from Eighth Line east to the Brampton border and from south of Hwy 401 to 10 Sideroad. Bonnette has requested the personal meet- ing to urge the minister to reduce the study area for the GTA West Transportation Corri- dor. "The study area that is currently identified is far too large and encompasses property that will never reasonably be considered for the corridor. This is causing a level of uncertain- ties for residents in the study area that is un- necessary," said Bonnette. The Mayor is also calling on the Ministry to provide ongoing information to residents on the project and notice for public information centres. Two Introductory Community Consulta- tion Workshops have been scheduled for July 24 in Woodbridge, July 29 in Mississauga and Aug. 13 in Brampton. It's only necessary to attend one, as each will present identical in- formation. To register, contact Trish Martins, 905-747-1743, 1-877-522-6916 by July 11. In addition to these requests, Halton Hills Town Council endorsed a staff recommenda- tion to request that Stage 2 utilizes the work completed in the Halton-Peel Boundary Area Transportation Study, specifically the east- west connection from Brampton to Halton Hills and the transportation challenges in the hamlet of Norval. "We are looking forward to working with Minister Del Duca and his staff to resolve this issue and to continue to move forward on this initiative," said Bonnette.
