A Brampton husband and wife, aged 52 and 47, both backseat passengers were killed after being ejected from the Honda Civic that was barely recognizable after it col- lided with a dump truck in Georgetown Monday evening. Halton Regional Police say charges are pending in the deadly crash, which oc- curred just steps from Hillcrest United Church around 6 p.m. at No. 5 Sideroad and Trafalgar Rd. Halton police Sgt. Chantal Corner said the male driver of the Civic was freed from the vehicle by emergency crews and was then airlifted to Toronto's Sunnybrook Hospital in critical condition. Corner says his condition has since been upgraded to serious, but stable. The other male passenger of the Civic and the driver of the dump truck were tak- en to Milton District Hospital with minor injuries. Corner says the four people in the Civic were co-workers. The force's accident reconstruction unit is still trying to piece together what caused the two vehicles to collide, resulting in the dump truck striking a light standard be- fore turning into a field where it caught fire, and the Civic flipping over, ejecting the Brampton couple.
