The 100th anniversary of the First World War is being observed the world over. In Glen Williams, the Williams Mill Gallery is present- ing an exhibition called, 'Rising… WW1 Remembered.' It features new work from Williams Mill Art- ists. Each piece displayed is an in- dividual artist's interpretation of WW1 remembered. Beside each is a short narrative describing "Why." One piece in particular needs no such narrative. As you enter the front door of the Gallery, a large portrait of a woman im- mediately captures your attention. Her story is told in a single tear, as it drops from her eye, so filled with pain and sadness. The exhibition runs until Oct. 5. The Gal- lery is open from Wednesday to Sunday, from noon to 5 p.m. A reception will be held on Saturday, Sept. 27 from 1-4 pm. To celebrate the beginning of the Headwaters Art Festival Tour, The Williams Mill Visual Art Centre is open on Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Doors Open on Sunday This Sunday, Sept. 28, Williams Mill is participating in Doors Open. It is one of the destinations to see dur- ing the Glen Williams Heritage Tour. There will be as special display in the Education Centre depicting the history of the Williams Mill site over the last 150 years. Come for an informative discussion, some light refreshments, and a chance to see physical evidence of the many changes that have taken place.
