Gray earned 5,466 votes (57%) while Strachan received 4,044 (42%). Strachan, who was appointed to the trustee position halfway through the last term after Gillian Tuck Kutarna resigned, said she wishes Gray well. "I hope that she continues to keep the voice of Halton Hills first and foremost in our board discussions," said Strachan. Gray, a retired principal, said she's look- ing forward to "working collaboratively with students, parents, teachers, the administra- tive teams in each of the schools, and fel- low Board members to ensure positive and productive working relationships built on transparency and accountability." "I am committed to working closely with the community of Halton Hills so that I may provide strong advocacy on behalf of the needs and priorities such as ensuring safe learning environments, equitable access to resources and supports, and promotion of community involvement." She added she appreciates the endorse- ment from Halton Hills residents and is proud to represent their views as a member of the board. Mark Rowe will return as Halton Hills representative on the Halton Catholic School Board easily beating newcomer Ante Skoko, with 79% of the votes, 2,455. Skoko received 639 votes (20%). "I'm very pleased that the people of Hal- ton Hills decided that I have been doing a good job," said Rowe. "I thank them for the vote of confidence." He said his opponent "was part of a small group of people that didn't agree with some of the decisions that the Board had reached." Skoko said it was "an honour and plea- sure" to run for the position and he congrat- ulates Rowe for his re-election. "All I take from this loss is gains in ex- perience and building and growing a base of supporters who have the same vision of Catholic education as myself," said Skoko. He thanked all his volunteers and those who voted for him, and plans to run again for the position in 2018. Pierre Girouard will be the trustee for the Conseil Scolaire Viamonde for the next four years. In Halton Hills Girouard earned 20 votes (83%) compared to Malika Attou who received 4 (16%). The Conseil Scolaire De District Catholique Centre-Sud trustee is still un- determined. Locally, however, Dominique Janssens received 107 votes (88%). Rafik Morcos earned 14 votes (11%).
