He's a big gentle boy,  six months old, with splendid qualities and handsome good looks his new family would enjoy.   Merino  would assist with house- hold  tasks and gladly participate in fam- ily activities.  He would be the perfect lap warmer on those cold winter nights or just to keep you company.  Merino would play gently with the children and if the dog  or cat was friendly they would get along. He would not make strange with visitors, instead  en- tertain everyone when he played. He would enjoy  grooming  of his glossy coat and never create a mess with his litter box  (provided it was very deep) and never a protest when time to trim  his nails. He's  a happy boy with personality and af- fection galore waiting for a family of his own.  On Saturday,  Dec. 13 Merino and his brothers will be at Pet Valu, 369 Mountain- view Rd. By Barb Johnson info@nhkr.ca Merino asked Santa for a home Fidget and Reece are still waiting Reece and Fidget are exasperated with the writer and have fired me as I have not been able to score them a home and are taking over their own article. I am Reece, a 10-year-old male cocker spaniel and Fidget is an 8-year-old Beagle who has been my constant companion since we were puppies; we are a strongly bonded pair and have to be adopted together. We were dismayed on arriving at the Shelter be- cause our owner developed medical prob- lems and could not take us into residence and it did not help as Dad was heartbroken to leave us behind. We loved him so much and just clung to each other as we adapted. No one has been to see us, I hope it is not that I do bark a lot when we are viewed in our pen, and I have asked the caregivers to take us outside so we present better. I am just posturing like a lot of dogs do in con- fined spaces… Although I don't like to admit it, Fidget is my heart, and where she goes I go, you would call me "the follower". Fidget is very lucky as she has a more out- going nature, whereas I would need a little time to warm up to you….many people feel Beagles are friendlier than Cocker Spaniels but that is a generaliza- tion. We are both basically fun lov- ing little dogs, we love to run and play. I tease Fidget and tell her that her contours need refining which being a girl annoys her, but when we have more exercise she will streamline because she likes to look pretty. Both of us are healthy with many attributes; we enjoy people; will come on recall; are obedient and you would find us intensely loyal once we are established in our new home. Walking in tandem is enjoyable and we try not to cross leads and mind our handler. We feel terrible to sound picky but quieter adult only homes are the best match for us, defi- nitely NO CHILDREN due to our ages. Fidget and I have talked to the Shelter Manager about our situation and he feels that we are such an engaging little pair that we would be available for a "VERY appro- priate special" price category.
