Canadian Army - Dental Corps Passed away at the age of 94 at the Sherwood Care Centre, Sherwood Park, Alberta on November 29th, 2014. Don was predeceased by his wife Dora Wood (1977) and his parents Edward (1967) and Isabel (1956). He will be sadly missed by his son David (Irene) of Sherwood Park and his grandchildren: Joshua (Amanda) of San Francisco, Kristy of Sher wood Park and Jeremy (Leah) of Victoria. Don was predeceased by his brothers Glenn and Rod and his sisters Marguerite and Dorothy. He was born in Acton where he lived and raised his family for 86 years until he moved to Alberta to be near his son and family. He worked for 29 years with Dil ls Printing and Publishing and then Metroland Media, init ial ly as a photographer, t h e n S p o r t s E d i t o r b e f o r e h i s l o n g - t e r m p o s i t i o n a s A d v e r t i s i n g Manager. Don was an active sportsman and was the winning pitcher for Acton's 1947 Ontario Baseball Association's Intermediate Championship Team. He coached local baseball and hockey youth teams and was an avid golfer in his ret irement. He was a former member of : the Royal Canadian Legion, the Masonic Lodge the Acton Volunteer Fire Brigade a s w e l l a s s e r v i n g o n n u m e r o u s c o m m u n i t y c o m m i t t e e s a n d organizations throughout his l ife. Jean's se l f less , generous, compass ionate and caring nature, as well as her passionate love of her family, were well k nown to al l that k new her.
