Don was predeceased by his brothers Glenn and Rod and his sisters Marguerite and Dorothy. He was born in Acton where he lived and raised his family for 86 years until he moved to Alberta to be near his son and family. Don was an active sportsman and was the winning pitcher for Acton's 1947 Ontario Baseball Association's Intermediate Championship Team.
