COMMUNITY At the "Down on the Ranch" social dinner last Tuesday, 80 people enjoyed the spare ribs, roasted potatoes and beans followed by apple pie. Wally Maggs came all the way from Tillsonburg to entertain us. He sang country music which everyone enjoyed. Sally Cowell, Zoya Frakman, Dave McLean, Nancy Gallone and Eileen Dix (plus one person whose name I missed) were happy to go home with door prizes and Pat Nicholls was especially happy to win $109 from the 50/50 draw. The Men's Group had a very successful breakfast on Tuesday, Jan. 20. Everyone found the speaker very informative, and enjoyed meeting other members of the Centre. If you aren't able to get away and enjoy the sunshine maybe a visit to the Centre on Tues- day, Jan. 27 might put a little spring in your feet. The library is holding another Coffee, Books, and Computers hour and the topic is "Tropi- cal Vacation". You do not need to be a member to attend, then that evening you could plan to attend the fundraising pasta dinner and silent auction, 6-9 p.m. and imagine you are in Italy. Some of the items for auction are, a beautiful special edition print, two afghans, a bottle of scotch, a bottle of vintage Italian red wine, an acrylic art set, and lunch at "Chez Julie's". Tick- ets are still available at the reception desk. The first session of Weight Watchers was on Friday, Jan. 16 and was well attended. If you wish to join it's never too late! Talk to one of the office staff if it sounds like something you would benefit from. Andrea Buck RPN will be holding another monthly foot care clinic in the Health and Wellness room on Wednesday, Feb. 4. Her card is at the reception desk. Andrea will make a presentation on foot care on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 1:30 p.m. Paper Tole will restart on Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. If you are interested, drop in and talk to them. They create some beautiful pictures. Do you enjoy crafts? The Monday morning craft group are looking for more people and fresh ideas. They meet at 9:30 a.m. on Mon- days. Darts is also on a Monday morning and there is usually a great group enjoying playing and having fun from 9-11 a.m. Please note it has become a safety issue with people walking from outside with wet boots into the main hall. The floor becomes very slippery when wet. We are afraid some- one might slip and fall. It might be a good idea if you are going into that room to bring a change of footwear. Mark your calendars! Monday, Feb. 16 is Family Day, and we are hoping you help us celebrate by bringing your families to the Cen- tre. From 1-2 p.m. you will be able to join the social dancers and from 2:30-4 p.m. you will have the opportunity to play Bingo. The arena is also open with activities planned for the day. Friday lunch on Jan. 30 will be pizza and salad. The 50/50 was won this week. Cecile Tremblay was happy to hear she will receive a cheque for $117.50. Don't forget whenever you attend the Centre for a quick visit, or vol- unteering please log your hours as they assist us in recognition and grant applications.
