Coupon code: HALTON YOU AND YOUR PET  All stray cats need a home but Muffin deserves a home for the rest of her life and a full bowl of food.  This was one of the saddest  rescues I have done in 10 years of trapping kittens/cats.  NHKR was alerted to a litter of  dumped kittens in Georgetown's industrial area.  While a  volun- teer was erecting the trap for the  frolicking kittens, out of the weeds emerged a very pregnant cat.  The cat was exhausted, uncomfortable and obviously hungry.  She approached the trap, made eye con- tact with the volunteer, hesitated, then walked past the volunteer to enter the trap. When the volunteer moved she looked up, looked back at the food and decided food was more important. The following afternoon she gave birth to seven tiny but healthy kittens. Muffin's kittens were ad- opted and she's  a happy cat after three months of being lovingly cared for. Muffin will be available for adoption on Saturday at Pet Valu, 369 Mounta- inview Rd. S., 1-3 p.m. Young cats will be available at Pet Valu, 265 Guelph St. 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost: $160 adoption fee to approved homes. Info: www. NHKR.ca or Barb, 905-873-8547. Raven arrived as a stray, displays high energy and needs more exercise than we can offer, but is learning to walk in a Halti. Raven has shown us that she does not like winter weather and will balk at walks unless the weather is to her liking. Raven has a strong will so if she determines she does not want to walk near traffic or go up slopes she just won't go. That said, Raven has so much to offer; when offered training sessions she really enjoys them and gives you her attention focusing on you in- tently with those big brown eyes. This intelligent girl needs the stimulation of training to fill the long boring hours and the reward she values above all others is to receive affection; she will sit nicely and even cuddle against you...cuddling and a gentle massage mean more than a cookie treat. Raven is housebroken, has her basic com- mands but must be an ONLY dog (NO dogs and cats) and would suit an adult only family or a fam- ily with children 12 plus (because of her strength). Friendly, fun, Raven loves to interact with peo- ple, and becomes quite a "goofball" as she lets go and enjoys herself. Raven demonstrates an affin- ity for soccer which she excels at. Raven is housed in the pound area as she can jump from standing position straight up at least 7-8 feet. A very high fenced yard for her own protection is a must as she has this jumping ability as her safety has to be a priority. Raven will be a wonderful match for an experienced owner who will have fun challenging her with new things and fine-tuning her manners. This is a dog for a family who have the desire to bring her to her full potential with love, care and patience as she is a work in progress but it will be well worth the effort. If you are interested in learning more about Raven please call the Upper Credit Humane Soci- ety shelter at 519-833-2287 or e-mail adoptions@ uppercredit.com for a meet and greet.
