Heavy black smoke and flames could be seen from the headquarters fire station (Eighth Line and 10 Sideroad) when crews responded. When they arrived they found a two-bay garage fully involved and the resi- dents pulling their vehicles out of the drive- way away from the fire. "Despite the extremely cold conditions accompanied by strong winds our firefight- ers did a great job gaining control of the fire and stopping the spread to the nearby house in very short order," said Fire Chief Brent Marshall. "The fire attack was aggres- sive and effective. Although there was some damage to the house it was completely ex- ternal so there was zero penetration of the fire into the house." Crews remained on scene concentrating on hot spots. Approximately 25 firefighters were on scene at the peak of the blaze. The cause of the fire is believed to be a wood-burning stove in the garage. CHARGED WITH THEFT A Georgetown man is facing charges in connection with several overnight thefts from vehicles and break-ins in Caledon re- cently.
