Newman's large oil paint- ings depict quintessentially Canadian landscapes. Newman paints "en plein air" (making oil stud- ies in the landscape itself) and her realistic style transports you to Doe Lake, the Madawaska River, Algonquin, and British Columbia. Newman says, "I hope to evoke an emotional stirring of serenity and stillness in the viewer, as though they have been transported to my original vista. I use the forces of nature; light, shadow, and wind, are my pallette. Rock, river, forest and field are my characters; they tell the story of journey and exploration in these places of tranquility and fulfill- ment." The show continues until April 4. Red Door Gallery is located at 127 Mill St., Georgetown, Thurs.-Sun. 12-5 p.m. Info: www.reddoorgallery.ca Red Door Gallery opens new show
