At the March 4 board meeting, trustees gave the go-ahead to adding 15 schools to the pro- gram. Joining the program are Halton Hills schools: Robert Little School in Acton and Park School in Georgetown. The schools will implement 40 minutes per week of Grade 1 Core French beginning this September. The additional 15 schools brings to 39 the number of Halton public board schools provid- ing primary Core French in Grade 1. That rep- resents slightly more than half of the schools able to accommodate the program. In September 2014, 24 schools began pro- viding Grade 1 Core French. Before that, students hadn't received French language instruction -- known as Core French -- until they reached Grade 4. An annual review of the program will be brought to trustees at the end of the school year. An interim report will be brought to the trustees in November 2015 regarding this year's rollout.
